Making Kitten Toys A Great DIY Activity
If you agree that cats are the fanciest animals of all then you will find kitten toys as the fanciest pet toys as well. Most people in America and Europe have cats because of their sweet and elegant beauty that make them so cuddling and adorable. And these attributes have been captured so well by pet toy manufacturers. Likewise, with Garfield, cat toys gained so much popularity and cartoon-like cat toys as well.
However, I personally like the real-looking hand-made cat toys for the delicate craftsmanship they were put in all their details and because they are really good pieces for a toy pet collection that includes most of cats breeds. My favorite ones: The Angora fat cat toys, especially the white ones.
Once talking with a friend about toy pet collecting we came up with the idea of making knitted cat toys to give as presents to our loved-ones and friends. We have made different knitted clothes projects before for past Thanksgiving, Christmas and event he 4th of July celebrations; so we wondered why not pet toys? They are not really difficult to make and you can come up with really original and funny ideas.
For cat animal babies we used the crochet knitting technique and colour thread to make kitties of the size of a wrist, stuffed with cotton and nylon socks. For elder cats we prepared wool and dunlopillo stuffed basic toys with white cloths sewed at hand and we knitted in with knitting jersey stitch the “skin” of the cat with yarn of real cat colors as grey, white, black, caramel and brown. Tails were done by the same procedure and for eyes and whiskers we bought made pieces at a notions store that we glued with silicon.
